NMN's U.S. regulatory status. In late 2022, the FDA concluded that NMN is excluded from the legal definition of a dietary supplement because it was authorized for investigation as a new drug. The Yoshino 2021 trial, the only NMN study specifically in women, found 250 mg NMN improved muscle insulin sensitivity in prediabetic postmenopausal women. NR has not been tested exclusively in female populations. Neither precursor has demonstrated sex-specific advantages. Choose based on testing and dose, not gender-targeted marketing.
Can NAD+ supplements cause cancer?
No human trial has linked NMN or NR to cancer. The theoretical concern is that NAD+ fuels all rapidly dividing cells, including cancerous ones.
