Renue by Science NMN Review 2026: Six Delivery Formats, One Evidence Gap
⚡ QUICK ANSWER
Renue by Science, the company formerly known as Alive By Science, sells NMN in more delivery formats than almost any other brand: liposomal capsules, sublingual powder, sublingual tablets, a sublingual gel with resveratrol, enteric-coated capsules with TMG, and a nasal spray. Its two best-known products are LIPO NMN at $64.95 for 90 capsules of 250 mg and NMN Pure Powder at $54.95 for 100 g. The powder is one of the cheapest sources of NMN per milligram we have priced, at about $0.27 per 500 mg. The formats are designed around the idea that how NMN enters the body changes how much is used. The only published head-to-head test, a 2026 crossover study in 14 healthy men, found that sublingual and swallowed NMN produced the same blood NAD+ levels over the first hour (Wakabayashi et al., 2026). No liposomal comparison has been published.
✅ KEY TAKEAWAYS
Renue is a specialist. It sells NAD+ precursors and little else, and it has organized its catalog around delivery method rather than dose. That gives buyers real choice, and its powder offers outstanding value. The weakness is that the format premium rests on reasoning rather than measurement. Liposomes, sublingual absorption and enteric coatings all have plausible chemistry behind them, yet the studies that showed oral NMN raising blood NAD+ used plain capsules or powder swallowed with water. An independent audit of LIPO NMN reported a published certificate confirming β-NMN identity for a March 2026 batch, which puts Renue ahead of many sellers on documentation. If you want NMN at the lowest cost per milligram from a brand that publishes batch data, the powder is the product to look at. If you want a capsule, LIPO NMN costs less per milligram than several standard capsules, so the liposome comes at little extra cost.
From Alive By Science to Renue: The Catalog
Renue sells at least six NMN formats plus combination products with NR, trigonelline and NAD+. Prices on its own comparison page ranged from $54.95 for the powder to $84.95 for a multi-precursor liposomal capsule when we checked on October 16, 2026.
Long-time NMN buyers may know the company as Alive By Science, the name it used during the early years of the US NMN market. The product line and manufacturing approach carried over to the Renue by Science name. On its product comparison page, the company groups items by how they are taken and states plainly that the sublingual powder is the best value "as there is very little added cost for processing."
| Product | How it's taken | NMN content | Listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| NMN Pure Powder | Under the tongue or mixed into a drink | 100 g total; 500 mg per scoop | $54.95 |
| LIPO NMN (liposomal capsules) | Swallowed | 250 mg per capsule, 90 capsules | $64.95 |
| NMN Resveratrol Gel | Under the tongue | Combination product, 75 servings | From $63.95 |
| NMN + TMG enteric-coated capsules | Swallowed | 200 capsules; combination product | Varies by size |
| Sublingual tablets | Dissolved under the tongue | Varies | Varies |
| Liposomal NMN, NR, trigonelline and NAD+ | Swallowed | Multi-precursor capsule | $84.95 |
The LIPO NMN and powder figures above match an independent comparison published in October 2026, which listed the powder at 500 mg per scoop with directions of one scoop twice a day, and the liposomal capsules at 500 mg per two-capsule serving.
This review focuses on the two single-ingredient products most people buy: the powder and LIPO NMN.
Format by Format: What Each One Is Supposed to Do
Each format targets a different step where NMN might be lost. Liposomes wrap the molecule in fat-based bubbles to shield it in the gut. Sublingual products try to absorb NMN through the tissue under the tongue. Enteric coatings delay release until the capsule passes the stomach. All three ideas are reasonable. Only the sublingual route has been compared with swallowed NMN in a published trial, and it did not raise blood NAD+ more.
When you swallow NMN, it meets stomach acid, digestive enzymes and gut bacteria before reaching the blood. Some of it is broken down to nicotinamide along the way. The body can still use nicotinamide to make NAD+, but by a longer route. That is the problem each Renue format claims to address.
Liposomes. A liposome is a tiny sphere with a fatty outer layer, usually made from phospholipids such as sunflower lecithin. The theory is that the shell protects NMN through digestion and may fuse with cell membranes to deliver it. Liposomal delivery has a track record in pharmaceuticals and has been studied for some nutrients. For NMN specifically, the comparison trial has not been published.
Sublingual absorption. The tissue under the tongue is thin and rich in blood vessels, which is why some medications are given that way. A sublingual NMN product aims to put some of the dose straight into circulation, skipping first-pass processing by the gut and liver. In 2026 a Japanese team tested this directly. Fourteen healthy men took the same NMN dose sublingually and by mouth, a week apart. Over the following hour, blood NMN, nicotinamide and NAD+ did not differ between routes; only two downstream breakdown products, 2PY and 4PY, rose more after the sublingual dose (Wakabayashi et al., 2026). The study was small and short, but it is the best direct evidence available, and it does not support a NAD+ advantage.
Enteric coating. A coating that resists stomach acid delays release until the small intestine. The idea is to avoid acid exposure, though NMN's main losses are thought to happen through enzymes and bacteria further down rather than stomach acid alone.
Nasal spray and gel. These are less common and have even less published human data behind them.
A 2021 review of NAD precursors laid out what is known and unknown about how NR, NMN, the reduced form NMNH and related compounds are absorbed and used, and flagged bioavailability as an area with real gaps (Palmer et al., 2021). That is where every format claim in this category stands today.
What Has Actually Been Measured in People
Published human NMN trials used standard oral capsules or powder and reported that NMN raises blood NAD+ and is well tolerated at doses from 250 mg to 1,250 mg a day. Because those results came from plain oral NMN, a format upgrade is not required to get the effect the trials measured.
| Study | Daily dose and form | Length | Participants | What was found |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Irie et al., 2020 | Single oral dose of 100, 250 or 500 mg | 1 day | Healthy men | Well tolerated; NMN metabolites appeared in blood |
| Okabe et al., 2022 | 250 mg oral | 12 weeks | 30 healthy adults | Safe; blood NAD+ increased |
| Igarashi et al., 2022 | 250 mg oral | 6 or 12 weeks | Healthy older men | NAD+ rose; nominal gains in gait speed and grip |
| Yi et al., 2023 | 300, 600 or 900 mg oral | 60 days | 80 healthy middle-aged adults | Blood NAD rose with dose; walking distance improved in all NMN groups |
| Fukamizu et al., 2022 | 1,250 mg oral | 4 weeks | 31 healthy adults aged 20 to 65 | No changes beyond normal variation; no severe adverse events |
| Pencina et al., 2023 | 1,000 mg once or twice daily (pharmaceutical-grade NMN) | Short-term | Adults | Safe; dose-related rises in blood NAD |
| Yamaguchi et al., 2024 | 250 mg oral | 8 weeks | 11 healthy men, open label | Well tolerated; NAD+ increased |
Look at the forms column. Every study used NMN swallowed in a standard way. Pencina's group used a microcrystalline pharmaceutical form, which is a manufacturing difference rather than a delivery system like a liposome.
This is the central limit on Renue's pitch. The question is not whether liposomal or sublingual NMN works. It almost certainly delivers NMN to the body. The question is whether it works better than a plain capsule at the same dose, and by enough to matter. For sublingual NMN, the one direct comparison found no difference in blood NAD+ over an hour (Wakabayashi et al., 2026). For liposomal NMN, no comparison has been published at all.
Pooled analyses keep expectations in check too. A 2026 meta-analysis of oral NMN trials found it well tolerated but concluded that broad metabolic benefits were not evident, describing a few marker changes as preliminary (Yang et al., 2026). A systematic review of 113 NAD-related studies, 33 in humans, found clear biological activity but called effectiveness for anti-aging and wellness outcomes inconclusive (Gallagher et al., 2026).
The Pure Powder Is the Value Story
At $54.95 for 100 g, Renue's NMN Pure Powder costs about $0.27 per 500 mg serving. Following the label's directions of one 500 mg scoop twice a day, 100 g lasts 100 days at roughly $0.55 a day. That is a fraction of what most capsule products cost for the same amount of NMN.
We priced several NMN products on October 16, 2026. The powder's cost per milligram was the lowest among the brand-name products we checked, by a wide margin.
| Product | Cost per 500 mg NMN |
|---|---|
| Renue NMN Pure Powder | $0.27 |
| Nutricost NMN capsules (per OMRE price check) | $0.73 |
| Renue LIPO NMN | $1.44 |
| YourHealthier NMN (our product) | $1.67 |
| Double Wood NMN | $3.26 |
The powder's directions call for 1,000 mg a day, higher than many capsule products recommend. That total sits between the 900 mg top dose in the Yi trial and the 1,250 mg used in Fukamizu's four-week safety study. People who want to start lower can use a half scoop. A small digital scale makes dosing more consistent than eyeballing.
Powder has trade-offs that capsule users never think about. NMN tastes faintly sour and a little bitter, and holding it under the tongue for a minute is not pleasant for everyone. Powder also needs to stay dry and sealed, since NMN absorbs moisture. Renue's sublingual framing for the powder is a format claim with the same evidence gap described above; mixing it into water and swallowing is a perfectly reasonable way to take it if the taste bothers you.
LIPO NMN by the Numbers
LIPO NMN contains 250 mg of NMN per capsule, 90 capsules per bottle, for $64.95. At two capsules a day that is 45 days of 500 mg, or about $1.44 per day. That is less per milligram than several standard, non-liposomal capsules, so the liposome comes with little or no price premium.
Many people assume liposomal products are always the expensive option. In this case the math runs the other way. At $1.44 per 500 mg, LIPO NMN costs less per milligram than our own standard capsule ($1.67) and much less than Double Wood's ($3.26). Some reviews list the liposomal carrier as sunflower lecithin with rice flour and microcrystalline cellulose as fillers. Check the current label on your bottle, since formulations change.
The 250 mg capsule size is convenient for anyone matching the 250 mg dose used in several healthy-adult trials. One capsule a day gives you that, and a bottle lasts three months, which brings the cost down to about $0.72 a day.
The capsule is listed as vegan-friendly on SuppCo's product page. People avoiding animal products should confirm the capsule material on their bottle.
Reading Renue's Published Certificate
An independent audit published in 2026 reported that Renue posts certificates for LIPO NMN, including one for batch 032824529 dated March 27, 2026, which states β-NMN anomer identity at the labeled 250 mg per capsule. That identity test is the single most useful line on an NMN certificate.
NMN exists in two mirror-image forms, β and α. Only β-NMN is the form the body uses to make NAD+. Low-quality NMN can include α-NMN or simply be cut with nicotinamide, which is cheap and produces a similar-looking assay if the test is not specific. A certificate that confirms β-anomer identity closes that loophole.
The audit by Thrive Trilogy scored LIPO NMN on documentation rather than absorption claims and noted that the liposomal advantage "remains unmeasured." We agree with both halves of that assessment. Renue earns credit for publishing batch data. It does not earn extra credit for a delivery advantage nobody has quantified.
When you receive a bottle, match the batch number on the label to a posted certificate. If you cannot find one, ask the company. Our NMN COA checklist lists the tests a complete certificate should include, such as heavy metals and microbial limits alongside identity and potency.
Matching a Renue Product to a Trial Dose
If you want to copy a dose from a published trial, Renue's products make it easy. One LIPO capsule matches the 250 mg trials; two capsules or one powder scoop match 500 mg; the label powder routine of two scoops reaches 1,000 mg, near the higher doses tested.
| Trial dose | Studies | Renue option | Approximate daily cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250 mg | Okabe 2022, Igarashi 2022, Yamaguchi 2024 | 1 LIPO capsule, or half a powder scoop | $0.72 (capsule) or $0.14 (powder) |
| 300 to 600 mg | Yi 2023; Liao 2021 runners at 600 mg | 2 LIPO capsules, or 1 scoop | $1.44 or $0.27 |
| 900 to 1,250 mg | Yi 2023 top dose; Fukamizu 2022 safety study | 2 scoops (label directions) | $0.55 |
The runner study by Liao and colleagues is a good example of why dose matters. At 600 and 1,200 mg a day, ventilatory thresholds improved; at 300 mg, the group did not separate from control (Liao et al., 2021). Someone hoping for that kind of result would want at least two capsules or one scoop. Our NMN dosage guide covers how people usually work up from a starting dose.
Safety and Regulatory Status
Human trials have tested NMN at up to 1,250 mg a day for four weeks and 250 mg a day for twelve weeks without serious adverse events. NMN is lawful as a dietary supplement in the United States after the FDA reversed its earlier position in September 2025.
The safety data come from the same oral trials in the table above, most clearly Fukamizu's 1,250 mg study and Okabe's 12-week trial (Fukamizu et al., 2022; Okabe et al., 2022). Nobody has published long-term safety data on liposomal or sublingual NMN specifically. The NMN is the same molecule, but carriers such as lecithin add their own small considerations, for example for people with soy or sunflower sensitivities.
On regulation, the FDA said in late 2022 that NMN was excluded from the supplement definition because it had been studied as a drug. After petitions and a lawsuit from industry groups, the agency reversed that position in a letter dated September 29, 2025, as reported by the Natural Products Association. Some older reviews of Renue still describe NMN as being under FDA scrutiny; that is out of date. Our NMN FDA status timeline has the details.
People who are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescription medication should talk to a doctor before taking NMN in any form. Our NMN side effects guide summarizes the mild effects people report.
Where Renue Fits Against Other NMN Brands
Renue is the format specialist with strong prices and published batch data. Budget capsule brands compete on simplicity, premium brands on added ingredients. For pure NMN at the lowest cost per milligram, Renue's powder is hard to beat; for capsules, LIPO NMN is competitively priced.
Our Double Wood review covers a brand with a low bottle price but a 125 mg capsule that makes it expensive per milligram. Our GenuinePurity review looks at another liposomal NMN with different dosing. The best NMN supplements guide ranks a wider field, and our own 500 mg capsule is described on the YourHealthier NMN product page.
A practical way to decide: pick the format you will take every day without fuss. The evidence does not yet favor one route of entry over another, so the format that fits your routine is the one most likely to produce whatever benefit NMN offers you.
Storing and Handling NMN Powder
NMN powder should be kept sealed, dry and cool. It draws in moisture from the air, which can make it clump. A small digital scale or the included scoop gives more consistent doses than tapping powder from the jar.
Most NMN sold in the US is a fine white powder that dissolves quickly in water. Moisture is its main enemy in a home kitchen. Every time the jar is opened in a humid room, a little water gets in. Over weeks, that can lead to clumps and, in principle, slow breakdown. Close the lid right after use, keep a desiccant packet in the jar if one came with it, and store it away from the stove and dishwasher.
Refrigeration is a common habit among NMN users. It is not harmful as long as the jar is sealed, but taking a cold jar into a warm room causes condensation, which works against the point. If you refrigerate, let the jar reach room temperature before opening it.
Scoops are convenient but not precise, because powder density changes with how tightly it packs. If you want to match a specific trial dose, weigh it once on a kitchen scale that reads to 0.01 g, note how full the scoop needs to be, and use that as your reference.
Questions Worth Asking Before You Buy
Ask for the certificate that matches your batch, confirm it includes β-NMN identity and heavy metal results, check the carrier ingredients in liposomal products, and note the expiration date. A good seller answers all four without hesitation.
Which certificate matches my batch? A certificate is only useful if it covers the lot you receive. The batch number printed on the bottle should match one posted online or sent on request.
Does it confirm β-NMN identity? Identity testing separates real β-NMN from α-NMN or nicotinamide-heavy material. The 2026 audit cited above reported that Renue's LIPO certificate includes this line.
Are heavy metals and microbes reported? A complete certificate lists lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury results with limits, plus microbial counts. If those are on a separate document, ask for it.
What carries the liposome? Liposomal capsules use phospholipids, often sunflower or soy lecithin. If you avoid either, confirm which one is used.
When does it expire? NMN is reasonably stable when dry, but fresher stock is better for any supplement. Check the date when the package arrives.
How This Review Was Checked
Product details come from Renue's own comparison page and two independent reviews published in 2026, all checked on October 16, 2026. Study details come from PubMed abstracts linked in the text. We did not run our own lab tests on Renue products.

YourHealthier sells an NMN capsule, which appears in the price table and is labeled as ours. Renue had no involvement in this article. An earlier version of this page included company details and a liposomal study figure we could not verify; those have been removed.
Renue by Science NMN FAQ
These answers cover the brand name change, the liposomal question, dosing and testing, based on the product pages and audits we checked on October 16, 2026.
Is Renue by Science the same company as Alive By Science?
Yes. Alive By Science now operates as Renue by Science, with the same NAD+ precursor focus and a similar product line.
Does liposomal NMN absorb better than regular NMN?
It may, but no published human trial has compared them at the same dose. The trials showing NMN raising blood NAD+ used standard oral NMN (Okabe et al., 2022). Our powder vs capsules vs sublingual guide covers the format question.
Which Renue product is the best value?
The NMN Pure Powder, at about $0.27 per 500 mg. Renue's own comparison page says the same, attributing it to lower processing costs.
How much LIPO NMN should I take?
The label serving is two capsules (500 mg). One capsule (250 mg) matches the dose in several healthy-adult trials. Higher doses up to 1,250 mg a day have been tested for safety over four weeks.
Does Renue publish certificates of analysis?
An independent 2026 audit reported a published certificate for LIPO NMN batch 032824529 confirming β-NMN identity. Match the batch on your bottle to a posted certificate, or ask the company for it.
Is NMN legal to sell in the United States?
Yes. The FDA confirmed in a September 29, 2025 letter that NMN is not excluded from the dietary supplement definition, reversing its 2022 position. See our NMN FDA status timeline for the full sequence.
Should I take NMN in the morning or at night?
Most human trials gave NMN once a day in the morning, and some users report feeling more alert after a dose. If an evening dose seems to affect your sleep, move it earlier. There is no published evidence that timing changes how well NMN raises NAD+.
How long does a 100 g jar of Renue powder last?
At the label routine of one 500 mg scoop twice a day, about 100 days. At one scoop a day, about 200 days.
Can I just swallow the sublingual powder?
Yes. Mixing it into water and drinking it is how NMN was given in several human trials. Holding it under the tongue did not raise blood NAD+ more than swallowing in the one study that compared them (Wakabayashi et al., 2026). If the taste bothers you, a small glass of water or juice makes it easy to take, and it dissolves in seconds.
